On Thursday, May 25, 2023, the Office for Drug Control participated in the EU-Western Balkans Expert Meeting on Drugs in Brussels. This meeting was organized within the framework of the Swedish presidency of the EU Council. The aim of the meeting was to exchange information on the state of drug policies in the Western Balkans, discuss current trends and contemporary challenges in this area, as well as areas that can be improved in terms of cooperation between EU institutions and the Western Balkans in this field.
The representative of the Office, Ms. Smiljana Aleksic, presented the state of drug policies in the Republic of Serbia, discussed the conclusions of the expired Strategy Evaluation, as well as plans for the future in this area. She also highlighted the results of exceptional cooperation between the Office for Drug Control of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and civil society organizations and local self- government units in the Republic of Serbia, as well as the commitment of the Office to aligning regulations in the field of drug policies in the Republic of Serbia with EU legal frameworks.
