On Tuesday, January 23, a meeting was held between the Office for Combating Drugs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Multidisciplinary Team Loznica in the premises of the City Administration of the City of Loznica. In addition to the representatives of the Office, members of the multidisciplinary team attended the meeting: a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, representatives of healthcare institutions, the Center for Social Work, the Red Cross, the Office for Youth, the Association “Svetionik,” and representatives of the city administration.

The meeting was organized with the aim of connecting and exchanging examples of good practices in preventing drug abuse at the local level of units of local self-government in the Republic of Serbia. The Multidisciplinary Team Loznica has developed an Action Plan to prevent drug abuse in the past period, and the creation of a second Action Plan is planned to cover new trends and challenges, especially concerning young people and the abuse of psychoactive substances, as well as other forms of addiction, such as gambling and betting. All attendees agreed on the necessity of continuous adaptation of public policy documents to effectively respond to changing challenges in the field of drug abuse prevention.

The meeting concluded with the importance of further developing a network of support and prevention at the local level.
