The delegation of the Republic of Serbia, consisting of a representative from the Office for Combating Drugs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, participated in the meeting of the Management Board of the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA) held on June 19, 2025.

The Management Board is the main decision-making body within the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA). It meets at least once a year and is composed of one representative from each EU Member State, Norway, and Turkey, two representatives of the European Commission, and two representatives appointed by the European Parliament. In addition, representatives from countries that have signed a Working Arrangement with the European Union Drugs Agency, as well as the Chair of the Civil Society Forum on Drugs, also attended the meeting.

The topic of this year’s geostrategic discussion was the impact of illicit drugs on the environment, with a particular focus on the integration of environmental protection systems in the process of drafting public policy documents.

The representative of the Office for Combating Drugs emphasized in her presentation that in the upcoming period, a new public policy document will be drafted, which will fully encompass the key elements of sustainable development: environmental, economic, and social.

A multidisciplinary approach and coordination among all relevant stakeholders in the field of drug policies, through the application of effective measures, can significantly contribute to respecting the principles of environmental protection, concluded the representative of the Office.
