The representative of the Office for Combatting Drugs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Ms. Nina Grba, participated in the resumed 68th session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) and the 34th session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ), held on 4 and 5 December 2025 in Vienna. In addition to the Office for Combatting Drugs, the sessions were also attended by Ms. Natalija Gunjić and Ms. Ivana Ivanov, representatives of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Serbia to the OSCE and other international organizations in Vienna.
The joint meetings of the two Commissions focused on key issues in the fields of international drug control, crime prevention, and strategic management of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) programmes. Several important documents for the future work of UNODC were adopted, including the budget for the next biennium and the framework for implementing operational activities. The delegation of the Republic of Serbia followed the work of the Commissions and the topics relevant to national policies.
Within the CND, discussions addressed the next steps in monitoring international drug control obligations, as well as ongoing preparations for the 2029 global policy review. The session also featured the presentation of the publication “CND in Action – From Policy to Practice”, which showcases examples of good practices by Member States in implementing international drug policies.
The CCPCJ, for its part, focused on the preparations for the Fifteenth United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, to be held in 2026. Member States exchanged views on the Congress priorities and the importance of enhancing global cooperation in crime prevention.
Participation of the Republic of Serbia’s delegation in these sessions provided insight into the process of shaping international policies and further strengthened cooperation with UNODC and Member States. The Office for Combatting Drugs will continue to actively participate in international forums in the coming period with the aim of advancing cooperation and the exchange of good practices.
